Facebook is
not only a big social network or a public company it is also an app developer!
Facebook is preparing to launch its own real-time
standalone app called Notify, looks to be
a Twitter replacement, according to a report by The Awl. Leaked screenshots from the app appear to show how it works; Notify let users subscribe to and receive notifications from certain news outlet’s websites push out new stories.

The
idea here is people already get real-time alerts pushed to their devices from
different apps, like Twitter, but Facebook's Notify would replace them. Instead
of focusing on aggregating the news itself, the app appears to pull together
the next best thing: headline notifications from your preferred news sources.
With
Facebook’s user base and reach, it’s easy to imagine Notify becoming the bridge
between social media and news. And this is set to become available as early as
possible.
